Flatbeders....here is our first Habano Oscuro. We have other Habanos in our line-ups: The Red Label in the PANACEA Classic Line, The Red Label in the PANACEA Grande Line, and the HUCKLEBUCK in the Homestead Line, all fantastic...but no Oscuros! Well...the Hucklebuck now has some company in the Homestead Line; The Whippoorwill Habano Oscuro.

The Whippoorwill has a beautiful oily Habano Oscuro wrapper with rich dark color, and amazing flavor. Binder is Nicaraguan. Filler is Nicaraguan and Dominican.

Notes: Chocolate, Molasses, Cashews, and a Malty finish. Very well balanced, tons of flavor...all the way through.

Dude! FIVE STARS.

The first thing I noticed was the Whippoorwill came with a naked foot (no wrapper on the first half inch) and a pig tail twist on the head. Visually, very enticing. Once sparked, the unwrapped foot kicked me in the flavor palate with bold, vibrant earthiness carrying a cinnamon blast which immediately grabbed my attention. When the foot burned its way into the flawless Oscuro wrapper, I received a practical lesson in cigar construction and the tremendous influence of the wrapper. As soon as the Oscuro entered the burn line, its sweetness transitioned the taste-aroma to one of milk chocolate with the cinnamon spice becoming very muted. The naked foot was like an appetizer before the main course. From that point on coffee, cream, and malt entered the flavor blend riding waves of voluminous smoke all the way to the nub. Smooth. Very smooth. Technically, the cigar is well constructed, provides consistent combustion, has a clean burn line, and rests well. Light it once, put your torch away, and enjoy it until your fingers burn. It’s a complex cigar that smokes cool on a medium draw and does not disappoint. You could spend twice as much on a cigar with a fancy band and only get half of the power and flavor provided by a Whippoorwill. I have a list of my Top 40 Cigars (under $10) and the Whippoorwill has broken into the Top 20.
